Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes

The first trailer for the remake of Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr. has surfaced online and first impressions are very good. The casting is flawless, with Jude Law and Rachel McAdams in supporting roles as Watson and Irene Adler respectively. The whole thing looks like a bit of fun, reminiscint of an Indiana Jones film (like the old ones, not like new one with aliens etc.). Looks like it’s a guaranteed money spinner. But it’s not out until Christmas Day. Boo.

Okay, so it looks like one of the most ridiculously clichéd and predictable films ever but give me Alexis Bledel and Jane Lynch (without whom Role Models would have been nothing) and I’m sold. It’s also very relevant and timely in the fact that everyone is looking for jobs after graduating from college in a recession– ah no it’s a bit of dire tripe really. I’ll definitely be seeing it.

Not to be confused with Tim Burton’s upcoming film of the same name, Nine is in fact a musical based on a Broadway show and it stars practically everyone who’s won an Oscar ever. And Fergie. The fact that it’s a musical will probably put a few people off, but judging by the success of Chicago (which had the same director as this), it’ll probably scoop a couple of Oscars on its own. Looks interesting.
