To V or not to V? May 24, 2009

Just watched the (loooong) trailer (below) for forthcoming US TV show “V” which is a remake of a 1980s mini-series. Looks pretty good, and it stars Elizabeth Mitchell (whose fate on “Lost” is still up in the air…) and Morena Baccarin (of Firefly and Serenity) amongst others. It looks a bit Battlestar Galactica-y and may get extremely shit after the first few episodes, but it seems worth checking out and the reviews are not too shabby.

A bit of a summary of the show, as per EmpireOnline.com:

As with the original series, this show sees an alien civilisation arrive on Earth and extend the hand of friendship to us human types: the aliens look like us, have advanced technology and seem like all-round decent human beings. Or are they?! The world’s populace is divided between near-worship and paranoid mistrust, allowing the Visitors (hence V) to establish themselves in the cracks.

Some pilots that didn’t get picked up include “Body Politic” starring Friday Night Lights’ Minka Kelly and Veronica Mars’ Jason Dohring which looks like it could have been great, and the 80s-set Gossip Girl spin-off which could have gone either way.
