PS22 Chorus

PS22 is a public school in Brooklyn. You may have heard of it because of their amazing PS22 Chorus, who have recently shot to global fame following exposure all over the world wide web. The chorus of about 70 is made up of 5th graders and headed by director “Mr. B.”

You may have unknowingly heard them, if you have listened to the Passion Pit tracks “The Reeling”, “Little Secrets” and “Let Your Love Grow Tall”, all of which feature vocals from the chorus.

Apart from Passion Pit, PS22 Chorus have also collaborated with Tori Amos and Crowded House. They specialise in covering modern pop songs and generally not the kind of stuff you’d expect from a kids’ chorus, which has been a major factor in their success.

The kids are so into what they’re doing that it is both hilarious and heartwarming at the same time.

They’ve covered everyone from Lady Gaga to Fleetwood Mac (above) to Journey, and virtually every Tori Amos song ever. Their complete back catalogue is available on their official blog. Amazing.

Below is one of seven videos of the chorus recording with Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos. Watch. Them. All.
